Data Recovery Tools & Reviews
After bringing the failed drive back to life, as a
data recovery professional, you know now you need to
recover the damaged file system by using data
recovery tools; and maybe you know also you need to
do a disk imaging in order to work from an accurate,
stable hard drive image.
Unfortunately, traditional disk imaging tools and
methods are designed for and work on good HDDs only,
not the patient HDDs that are unstable or
inaccessible because of media defects and instable
head, which are common challenges of Stage 2 in
practice. Even more, with those traditional imaging
tools, the time involved and the ordinary user-level
repeated-read access to the media bring a risk of
damaging the disk and head, making data lost
irretrievable.
But now there's a better way: The disk probing
equipment included in the Data Compass suite
bypassing the disk-level problems such as multiple
bad sectors, damaged surfaces, malfunctioning head
assembly, or corrupted servo info, In the meantime
you can use the default software or any other
defined software you have been familiar with
(R-studio, Winhex, any) to perform file recovery.
Through the Data Compass, problem drives will become
intact hard drives and ready for file recovery
attempts..
What can Data Compass do?
Data recovery from physically damaged HDDs is what
Data Compass designed for.
* Data recovery from HDDs with severe multiple BAD
sectors, which appear because of platter surface
scratch or malfunction or instability of the
magnetic head assembly (MHA).
* Data recovery from HDDs that start to produce
"clicking" sounds, which may be caused by corruption
of sector servo labels or a MHA malfunction. If some
heads or surfaces are damaged it is possible (before
installation of MHA replacement) to create a copy of
data using the remaining good surfaces or drive
heads.
* Availability of tools for logical analysis of FAT
and NTFS file systems in the software complex allows
data recovery in cases, when a drive is functional
and only logical data structure is corrupted.
* When used with malfunctioning drives, Data Compass
complex often allows selective extraction of data
necessary to your customers without reading all data
from a drive ("recover data by file" without
creating a complete disk image) saving a lot of
time. In some cases, when drive malfunctions cause
constant self-damage (like scratches on disks or
instable MHA) these are the only means to accomplish
this task. With the ShadowDisk technology adopted,
users need not to worry about the drive degradation
problem.
Customer Reviews Of Data Compass:
"The SalvationDATA Data Compass easily helps me get
rid of SA bad sectors which can't be repaired by
other drive restoration products we've been using
before, because it gives access to user data area
directly by using its Analog technology which
virtually boot the hard drive SA-independently."
- Yimei Cao, Lead Data Recovery Engineer CBL Data
Recovery Technologies Inc. www.cbltech.com
"Data Compass helps us to restore data from hard
drives suffer from sever bad sectors, which are not
able to be recovered from other tools in the DR
market. Especially, by using the advanced Service
Area (SA) emulation technology, it accesses the data
from firmware defective hard drives directly. Also,
multiple settings of the reading algorithm enables
the optimization of data recovery from hard drives
with poor performance of Head & Disk Assembly (HDA)"
Data Compass with Data Compass Explorer is now the
premier choice amongst the Data Recovery Industry
for fast and effective extraction of data from hard
drive's with severe unreadable sectors, media
degradation and failing read/write heads. It is now
officially my favourite tool in my vast collection
of data recovery solutions and it is only going to
get better over time once the new functions are
completed. I especially look forward to the head
selection function and the future Seagate, Western
Digital firmware bypassing options. I'm so impressed
I am considering ordering several more in the near
future.
"I've started playing with settings of Data Compass
and found it quite easy to use. I've already carried
out a couple of data rescue tests with success and
I'm quite satisfied about the performance of the
tool."
"I received my Salvation Data Compass last week and
I would like to share my experience with you. When I
saw the release of Salvation Data Recovery Data
Compass I was a bit skeptical about the ROI of this
product. Since I’ve been in Data recovery for over 4
years and I manage to do most of my job with my
current equipment (PC3K ISA, HDD Duplicator etc…)
After reading spec and cases study about this
product I decide to go ahead and try it."
Data Recovery Service
henever a user encounters a data loss issue due to
physical crash of the hard drive, he tries to find
the ways to completely recover the lost data from
the damaged hard drive. Most of the users browse the
internet to find the best solution. But when the
user searches for the data recovery service
companies, hundreds of results appear on the
computer screen that can fulfill the requirement.
These results leave the user in a confused state of
mind as it becomes very difficult for the user to
differentiate between the never-ending lists of data
recovery service companies.
Below are the points that any user should notice
before choosing any data recovery service:
Specialization of the Organization
The user should do complete check of the data
recovery organization. For example, if the
organization only deals in data recovery services,
then it is better than any other IT company which
makes all kinds of software.
Infrastructure of the Organization
The user needs to ensure that the data recovery
company performs data recovery under controlled and
sterilized environment.
Reliability
The user should make sure that there are existing
customers who are satisfied with the services
offered by the data recovery organization.
After the user has analyzed all the above
parameters, next thing that the user needs to do is
safely remove the hard drive from the computer. Then
carefully pack-in the hard drive so that no dust
particle can enter the hard drive. After that the
user needs to send that packed hard drive to the
data recovery organization where the recovery is to
be performed. The data recovery organization will
now analyze the amount of damage suffered by the
hard drive and will try to recover the damaged data
to the maximum.
